I founded a fire & life safety company in my garage at 26, owned it for 16 years, and sold it. The single biggest reason it worked: I had mentors who could see around the corner. They saved me years of trial and error.
After selling I got bored. Started helping a few friends with their businesses. Quickly realized how easy it was to help them since I had experienced many of their challenges. Now I'm the person who sees around the corner for a small number of owners.
What I see for them: the hire that's about to blow up, the quarterly priority that's secretly the wrong one, the conversation they're avoiding that's costing six figures, and the spot where the OS is going to break before they feel it.
Getting there wasn't clean. There were years I was broke on paper, furious at my team, not present for my daughter, and not sleeping well. What pulled me out: installing a Business OS.
If I could do it again, I would have hired a coach earlier to speed up the OS implementation and move faster.
